FLOWING & SINGING IN THE MELODY OF LIFE!!!
Story of my life till now ....
It was May 2005, Hauz Khaz New Delhi, a father was attending his son’s counseling for National Institute Of Fashion Technology (NIFT) UG course. The son said “Papa as discussed, I am ready for any center but not Chennai”. Father said “Let’s see!!! How it goes.” One important fact that the son had forgotten was his poor rank which was the sole criteria. Finally when the son’s chance came, the only available center for him was Chennai. The son became sad and said “Papa, what will do i alone in Chennai far from home without any food”. Father said “Let’s give the first semester fees for now. You can go and join and see for one month. If you do not like it there, you can come back.” The son, touched by this gesture, agreed.
Today my friends I feel if the father would not have pushed his son for that decision, the son would have been sitting in his home only as he had no other option of any engineering college or any good university. The son was nobody else than me Naman Mirchandani. It was further 18 years before in 1987, when I was born in the city of Nawabs i.e. in Lucknow. I was the third child to my parents. Much to the happiness of my parents, I was admitted to the best school in Lucknow St Francis College. As teenage dawned on me, I realized that there was nothing interesting in my school, since it was devoid of any fairer sex. Life moved on and finally somehow I finished my school.
NIFT is a heaven for every guy. Life in Chennai was far different than my expectations. I was scared like hell and had numerous fears before even entering into my college life …..Fear of my stammering, fear of idli & dosa, fear of staying away from family and so on but all of them disappeared soon after I started my college life. I found some great friends (what you call as friends for Life).
Coming from a business family, one question which always hovered around me was whether I will join my family business or the corporate world. Sadly, I landed in neither of them. Thanks to the recession hit poor market condition of 2009 coupled with my average grades, even after hopping through various placement centres, i could finally manage to get through a job in a garment factory in a small town Tiruppur. It’s now 5 years since I have finished my college life and though today I have moved on to better company , better profile, better salary, I still feel the urge to venture out on my own or maybe be go back & join my family business of apparel retail along with elder brother and dad.
Lucknow, Chennai, Tirupur, Gurgaon, Bangalore & Mumbai - my quest for learning and growing has given me the chance to call many cities, and sometimes maybe a village My Home.
With no clue of where this quest is taking me next, I have learnt Flowing & Singing with the Melody of Life & Making Lemonade if Life throws me a lemon.
My mantra for life - Enjoy what you have and strive for more…
